Calvinism and Time magazine

One might ask, "What do Calvinism and Time magazine have to do with each other?". Well according to Time magazine, and the recent article "10 Ideas Changing the World Right Now", there is alot in common. As a matter of fact, Time magazine has placed Calvinism in the number three spot on their list! Not too bad for a conservative, religious "idea", eh? Calvinism comes in only behind "Recycling the Suburbs", and "Jobs are the New Assets". I must admit, I am pretty impressed that Time magazine would recognize the efforts of Christians! A Reformed Soldier's Desire

My one desire...my one burning sensation, with what I am to spend my life doing, is to work with soldiers! I have spent years praying, and asking God what He would have me do with my life, and I believe with utmost certainty that I am to influence as many soldiers for Christ and bring the name of Jesus glory in the military. Since I was just a child, I remember having a longing in my heart to be a soldier...to fight for America. I would watch war movie after war movie sitting in the chair with my grandfather, wishing I could be one of the soldiers on the screen, fighting for our freedoms! As I grew older, he [my grandfather] and I would still watch war movies together, although I was too big to still sit in the chair with him. Those same desires would immediately flare up inside of me, along with the goosebumps that patriotism brings along. I would long to be there fighting my way up the hill at Iwo Jima, or freezing along with the soldiers of the 101st Airborne in the Battle of the Bulge. I would sit around and think about what it would have been like to be with those soldiers in World War II, or with the soldiers that fought through the hellish jungles of Viet-nam. As my teenage years came around, I would still watch war movies with my grandfather on the occasions we would visit. I looked forward to them! It brought back so many fond memories, and so much passion in my heart! The same passions that I still carry with me today, as a senior in Bible college, and an Army Reservist. I love being a soldier, and serving the Lord! It took many years of searching, and praying, but I know this is what God has for me. I look forward to putting my uniform on...remembering those who have fought, many of which gave their all for my freedoms. I do not count the privilege light, to be called a soldier. It comes with many benefits, but also many responsibilities...one day, I may be the one who lays down everything for your freedoms. When that day comes, I will be ready, and willing, because that is why I am a soldier.
And this is my one desire!
